During a prosecutor’s inspection conducted in December 2024 regarding the newly commissioned preschool building in the Bekobod district of Tashkent region, a shortage of 176 million soums was identified. As a result, a criminal case was initiated against the officials of the LLC that carried out the construction works under Article 167 of the Criminal Code.
It is reported that the chief legal counsel of the state institution “Single Customer Service,” having learned about the start of the inspection, demanded 8,400 US dollars from the head of the LLC in exchange for ensuring a positive outcome of the audit. He claimed he could arrange this through his official acquaintances.
During an operational event carried out by the State Security Service Department for Tashkent region, the chief legal counsel was detained at the moment of receiving the agreed amount. Evidence was documented on the spot.
It is noted that a criminal case was opened against the suspect under Article 168, part 3, section “v,” as well as Articles 28 and 211, part 1 of the Criminal Code, and a preventive measure of “detention” was applied. Investigative actions are ongoing.
