The Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Olim Abdullayev, held negotiations with Radim Zak, the Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD). The main topic of the conversation was the easing of visa procedures for citizens of Uzbekistan going to work in European Union countries and the deepening of ties in the field of migration.
Easing Visa and Preparation Procedures
During the negotiations, issues of improving migration policy and simplifying visa requirements for citizens of Uzbekistan going to work in European Union countries were reviewed. An exchange of views was also held on the wider participation of Uzbek specialists in the center's educational programs. The Center expressed its readiness to assist in the expedited coordination of intergovernmental documents, as well as to explore opportunities for expanding retraining programs that align with the demands of the European labor market.
New Stage of Cooperation: Permanent Representation
The most important result of the meeting was the news that an approving decision had been reached regarding the establishment of a full-fledged representation office of the Center in Uzbekistan. This signals ICMPD's intention to develop long-term and strategic cooperation with Uzbekistan.
Radim Zak, in turn, confirmed the intention to further strengthen practical cooperation in all discussed areas, including mechanisms for the sustainable rehabilitation and reintegration of citizens returning from Sweden.
It should be noted that the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) was established in 1993 and is currently a leading international platform for developing and promoting modern approaches in the field of migration policy.
