Uzbekistan's tourism breaks record: 10.7 million tourists arrive

Uzbekistan’s tourism sector has risen to a new level this year — in 11 months, 10.7 million foreign visitors came to the country. This result is significantly higher compared to last year, and the export of tourism services reached 4.4 billion dollars. The country’s promotion, visa-free regimes, and transportation conveniences ensured stable growth throughout the year.

Domestic tourism also developed rapidly. Within the framework of the “Travel Across Uzbekistan” program, citizens made 23.7 million domestic trips. This is considered a result that exceeds the planned target.

Tourism infrastructure in the regions is developing at an accelerated pace:
— 954 new accommodation facilities were launched, bringing their total number to 6861;
— accommodation capacity increased to 183.9 thousand places;
— 662 new tourism organizations and travel agencies were established;
— 4345 guides operate throughout the country, and 375 new specialists were trained during the year.

As a result of measures to support the tourism business, hundreds of sanitation and hygiene facilities were renovated, 421 investment projects were implemented, and more than 6000 new jobs were created.

The year’s results show that tourism is becoming one of the key growth drivers of Uzbekistan’s economy. Competitiveness is increasing, and new services, routes, and opportunities are expected to further expand the flow of international visitors.
