
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay an official visit to Tokyo on December 18–20 at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. During the visit, the head of state will hold meetings with Emperor of Japan Naruhito, the Prime Minister, representatives of the parliament and government, as well as leaders of political and academic circles.
The talks will focus on further strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Japan, as well as expanding cooperation in trade, economic, investment, and scientific-educational spheres. As part of the business program, meetings are planned with the heads of major Japanese companies and financial institutions to discuss plans for implementing joint projects. The signing of a number of bilateral documents is expected at the conclusion of the visit.
In addition, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will take part in the first summit of heads of state in the “Central Asia – Japan” format. The summit will address key areas of cooperation, including the green economy, sustainable development, regional cooperation, and human capital development, and is expected to conclude with the adoption of the Tokyo Declaration.
