
On December 19 at 10:39, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6 was recorded in Afghanistan’s Takhar province. The epicenter of the earthquake was located approximately 551 kilometers southeast of Tashkent.
According to the Seismoprognostic Monitoring Center of Uzbekistan, the earthquake was felt to varying degrees in several regions of the country. The strongest tremors were observed in Surkhandarya region, where they reached 4 points.
In Kashkadarya and Samarkand regions, the earthquake was felt at around 3 points. In Jizzakh, Syrdarya, and Fergana regions, the tremors were felt at a level of 2–3 points. In Navoi region, the city of Tashkent, as well as Namangan and Andijan regions, tremors of 2 points were recorded.
So far, no official information has been reported regarding serious damage to human life or infrastructure. The ministry and relevant services are keeping the situation under control. As the risk of further seismic activity remains, specialists urge the population to remain calm and follow safety guidelines.
