
Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Nobumitsu Hayashi, the Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), as part of the business agenda of his official visit to Tokyo. The discussions focused on expanding strategic partnership with this leading financial institution.
During the meeting, the positive progress in collaboration with the bank in recent years was noted with satisfaction. It was stated that the total project portfolio exceeds $5 billion, covering sectors such as petrochemicals, energy, telecommunications, infrastructure, light industry, and others.

Furthermore, special attention was given to the preparation of new projects worth over $10 billion in priority areas, including the development of energy, transport, and IT infrastructure, the modernization of the healthcare system, and improving the results of ongoing projects.
Discussions also underscored the importance of supporting public-private partnership projects in the social sector and expanding investments aimed at developing the private sector.
For his part, JBIC Governor Nobumitsu Hayashi highly appreciated the results of the partnership and expressed support for the large-scale reform program being implemented in New Uzbekistan.
