As part of a major strategy to expand New Tashkent, the city Directorate is overseeing the construction of an education cluster. The project’s centerpiece is the “New Uzbekistan” University, operating since 2021, and $200 million is said to be allocated for the campus. This was reported by upl.uzreports.

According to official information, the university will be allocated a 50-hectare site. A full academic infrastructure is planned to accommodate education for 10,000 students.

Construction is being carried out by the Turkish contractor O‘zg‘ven. Under the approved plan, the entire complex is scheduled to be commissioned in 2027.

The architectural concept includes five faculty buildings, the rectorate’s administrative block, as well as a museum and exhibition halls. Multimedia classrooms will be equipped to strengthen the learning process, and a library capable of hosting more than 1,000 visitors at a time will also be established.

The campus’s social area will also be enriched with a sports focus: dormitories for 2,000 people, cafeterias, a swimming pool, and a 1,000-seat sports complex are planned.

Next to the university town, on an area of about 4 hectares, a new building of the National Library of Uzbekistan is also rising. The total area of the four-story facility will exceed 30,000 square meters, and the project is based on combining national architectural traditions with modern urban-planning solutions.

The library is expected to include high-tech rooms for sterilizing the book collection, cataloging, and secure storage. The infrastructure will serve 1,420 readers simultaneously, and online access to international and national electronic databases will also be provided.

The project also addresses inclusivity: separate research and reading zones will be organized for citizens with visual impairments. A gallery, a 300-seat café, outdoor sports grounds, and recreation areas are also planned for visitors.

The new National Library project will also feature RFID-based “smart” shelves. This system will help determine the real-time location of any book across archives spanning more than 30,000 square meters, reducing reliance on the human factor when finding rare editions.
