Russia announced plans to expand the volume of oil and natural gas supplies to Uzbekistan. This was stated by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at the 6th meeting of the joint commission at the level of the heads of government of the two countries.

According to him, the parties agreed to continue oil and gas supplies and to gradually increase their volumes.

“Supplies of Russian oil and natural gas will continue, and agreements have been reached to increase their volumes,” Mishustin said during a meeting with Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.

Energy — a strategic direction

On the Russian side, the energy sector is considered one of the key areas of cooperation between the two countries. This is not limited only to exports, but also includes infrastructure modernization.

Currently, with the participation of Russian specialists, work is underway in Uzbekistan on drilling new wells, upgrading gas processing systems, and modernizing gas transportation infrastructure.

Expansion of economic ties

Cooperation in the energy sector is developing alongside the overall growth of economic relations. In 2025, trade turnover between the two countries increased by 12.5% and approached 1 trillion rubles.

The parties set a goal to bring mutual trade to 30 billion dollars by 2030.

Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov also noted that cooperation in the energy sector is steadily developing. According to him, the nuclear power plant construction project in the Jizzakh region with Russia’s participation has opened a new stage of cooperation.

Future plans

No specific volumes of oil and gas supplies were announced at the meeting. This issue remains under the control of the intergovernmental commission, and the parties are in constant dialogue.

A joint communiqué was signed following the meeting. The next major platform for discussing projects will be the Tashkent International Investment Forum, which will be held in June 2026.
