Commission fees for depositing cash to cards may be abolished

In Uzbekistan, commission fees for depositing cash onto bank cards and transfers between personal accounts of citizens may be abolished. A relevant proposal has been put forward by the Business Ombudsman.
It is reported that there has been an increase in complaints from the public regarding bank services, particularly the high commissions set for depositing cash onto cards and moving funds between personal accounts. This issue has become especially relevant after the introduction of mandatory cashless payment procedures for certain goods and large purchases.
Specifically, a requirement has been introduced for cashless payments for alcohol, tobacco products, fuel, and large purchases exceeding 25 million soums. This forces citizens to use bank cards and accounts more actively. However, it is noted that commission fees are becoming an additional financial burden for the population.
The Business Ombudsman believes that if the state encourages cashless payments or makes them mandatory in certain cases, such payments should not become an extra expense for citizens. Simply put, if a person deposits money onto a card and then has to pay an additional fee to use their own money, it raises valid questions for many.
For this reason, it is proposed to abolish commissions for depositing cash onto bank cards, as well as for transfers between citizens' personal accounts. If this initiative is supported, using the cashless payment system could become much more convenient for the public.
This proposal is significant for both entrepreneurs and ordinary citizens. Because the cheaper and more convenient bank services are, the easier the transition to cashless payments will be. Otherwise, commissions might discourage people from using modern payment systems.
For now, there is no precise information on when or how this proposal will be reviewed. However, the fact that the issue has been brought to the agenda shows that public appeals are not being ignored.
In short, if the commission for depositing money onto a card is abolished, it will be a significant relief for citizens. Digital payments should be convenient, not expensive.
