Obesity is rising and food quality is declining in Uzbekistan

Worrying indicators regarding public health are being recorded in Uzbekistan. According to data, 44 percent of the country's population leads a sedentary lifestyle. Furthermore, 36 percent of citizens do not sufficiently follow healthy eating principles.

Experts emphasize that this situation increases the future risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, and other chronic illnesses. In particular, the combination of low physical activity and poor nutrition has a serious negative impact on the body.

Over the last 10 years, the share of the adult population suffering from obesity has risen from 21 to 30 percent. This figure is noted to be higher compared to neighboring countries. Thus, the issue of excess weight is no longer just a personal problem but a serious matter concerning public health.

Problems related to food quality also require attention. In 2025, 44 cases of food poisoning were recorded in the country. Additionally, over 33,000 tons of products were deemed unsafe and removed from circulation.

These figures highlight the need to strengthen food safety, product quality, and the population's culture of healthy eating. A healthy lifestyle is not just about going to the gym. Daily movement, balanced nutrition, choosing quality products, and simple discipline are also of great importance.

In short, obesity rates in Uzbekistan are rising, and concerns regarding food quality are growing. If this situation is not addressed early, the effort and costs required for treatment later will be much higher. In health, the “I’ll start later” mode often becomes the most expensive one.
