Environmental requirements in resort areas to be further strengthened

New legislative changes aimed at protecting resort and recreational areas, preserving natural resources, and ensuring environmental sustainability have been adopted in Uzbekistan. This step is seen as a crucial decision for the rational use of nature and the preservation of vacation spots for future generations.

With the adoption of Law No. O‘RQ-1145 on May 14, amendments were made to the Law on Protected Natural Areas. The new standards are primarily aimed at restricting activities that could harm nature in ecologically clean areas, resort zones, and recreational spots.

The law will come into force in three months. This means that after the specified period, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, and service providers operating in protected natural areas will need to adapt to the new environmental requirements.

One of the most important aspects of the new regulation is the restriction on plastic products. In ecologically clean areas, the production and sale of certain plastic items, excluding those made from natural organic polymers, will be prohibited. The list of such products will be approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.

This restriction serves primarily to reduce plastic waste that harms nature for many years. Resort areas experience high visitor traffic, which leads to an increase in waste volume. If left uncontrolled, natural landscapes, water bodies, and soil conditions could suffer serious damage.

Another important ban concerns industrial facilities. According to the new standards, it will be impossible to build and operate facilities that have a negative impact on natural complexes. This means a strict approach to construction and production activities that place a heavy burden on nature around resort areas.

The issue of landscape preservation is also receiving special attention. Any work that could disrupt the stability of ecosystems, the appearance of natural landscapes, and the state of groundwater is prohibited. This rule serves to protect nature not only for today but also for the future.

The main value of resort areas lies in their clean air, natural environment, water resources, and unique landscapes. If these riches are lost, the tourist appeal of the area also declines. Therefore, the new requirements are aimed at protecting vacation spots from chaotic construction and environmental risks.

According to the law, any activity that receives a negative conclusion from the state environmental assessment will be considered illegal. This shows that the importance of the environmental assessment process will now increase significantly. Projects with a serious impact on nature will be checked first, and then a decision will be made.

Experts believe that such an approach is necessary for the proper development of the potential of recreational zones. Tourism develops not only through building hotels and roads but also by preserving the natural environment. If nature is destroyed, tourism will not last long.

The new standards will also be an important signal for entrepreneurs. Now, when operating in resort areas, environmental responsibility will take precedence alongside profit. Businesses will have to work in harmony with nature.

In short, by strengthening environmental order in resort areas, Uzbekistan is taking the next step toward protecting nature and developing sustainable tourism. The goal is simple: vacation spots must remain clean, beautiful, and safe not only for today's tourists but also for future generations.
