Demonstrations against the deportation of illegal immigrants were held in the United States
Protests against the mass deportation of illegal migrants took place in several US cities, local TV channel KTLA reported.
The largest demonstration took place in Los Angeles. Thousands of protesters demonstrated against President Donald Trump's immigration policies, blocking the streets of the historic city center and Highway 101.
According to the TV channel, similar protests took place in southern California and other regions of the US. Protesters expressed support for migrants who could be deported from the country as a result of the new immigration policy.
According to Newsweek, protests also took place in the states of Arkansas, Missouri, and Georgia, but the most violent clashes were recorded in several cities in Texas and California.
The Trump Administration's Deportation Policy
US Border Security Chief Tom Homan reported that more than 4,000 migrants were deported in the first week after Donald Trump returned to the White House.
According to official data, the number of illegal immigrants crossing the southern border of the United States has reached a record high under the presidency of Joe Biden. According to the Border Patrol, more than 8 million migrants have illegally crossed the country's border since January 2021.
Trump's New Measures
On January 20, Donald Trump gave his first speech as the 47th President of the United States, in which he said that he would immediately stop the flow of illegal immigrants into the country and begin the process of their mass deportation. In addition, he declared a state of emergency throughout the United States in connection with the situation at the southern border.
This decision has caused a wide public outcry. On the one hand, Trump's supporters claim that he is seeking to ensure the rule of law and strengthen border security. On the other hand, thousands of people continue to take to the streets, considering this policy a violation of human rights and the cause of the plight of migrants.
