A mandatory medical examination may be introduced for foreigners entering Russia

Russian State Duma Speaker Vladimir Volodin announced that a legislative initiative on mandatory medical examinations of foreigners entering the country will be submitted to the State Duma.

In addition, he expects the government to develop proposals on regulating labor migration and the entry of migrant families into Russia.

“Until migration policy is fully regulated, it must continue to be improved. This must be clearly understood by the responsible organizations,” Volodin emphasized.

Number of illegal migrants and requirements for them

In February 2025, the First Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Alexander Gorovoy, stated that there were about 670 thousand illegal migrants in the country, the majority of whom were women and children.
