The Paris prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into the social network X (formerly Twitter) due to possible "algorithmic errors", France Info reports.
According to the channel, the investigation into the X network began after a complaint from Eric Batorel, a deputy from the centrist coalition "Together for the Republic".
Batorel filed a complaint with the Paris cyber prosecutor's office on January 12 that the algorithms of the social network owned by American billionaire Elon Musk were not working correctly. These algorithms "may have caused errors in the automated operation of the data processing system," the Paris prosecutor's office, which is conducting the investigation, said in a statement.
“Judges and experts from the Cybercrime Unit are analyzing it and conducting preliminary technical checks,” the report notes.
Several investigations into Platform X have been ongoing at the European Union level since December 2023 under the Digital Services Act. According to media reports, in January the European Commission concluded its preliminary investigation into Platform X and will soon impose a multi-million euro fine.
At the same time, a German court ruled that Elon Musk’s platform must provide data that would allow it to track information that could influence the outcome of elections. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
