Ukraine has already tried to negotiate a ceasefire and prisoner exchange with Russia, but Moscow has not fulfilled the agreement. Therefore, Ukraine and the West must act together in new negotiations with Russia. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Munich Security Conference.

“We talked with Putin about a complete ceasefire and a prisoner exchange. But he did not exchange prisoners. He is a liar,” Zelensky stressed.

The Ukrainian president stressed that the war in Ukraine is not just a conflict between two states, but an attack by one state on another.

“Therefore, we do not need a mediator, the United States must be on our side,” he said.

At the same time, Zelensky said that he is ready to meet with US Vice President James Vance to discuss the details of the agreement on exchanging American military aid for Ukrainian mineral resources.

The Ukrainian president also noted that during a recent telephone conversation, Donald Trump gave him his personal phone number.

“He said, you can call me anytime,” he said. I hope that Trump will really help us,” Zelensky said.

As for the upcoming negotiations with the Russian side, according to Zelensky, Ukraine must first agree on a common position with Europe and the United States.

“I will meet only with one of the Russians - Putin. Only when Trump, Europe and Ukraine have a common plan. Only then will I meet with Putin and we will stop the war. I am ready to meet only on these conditions, not on other compromises,” Zelensky stressed.
