Spanish police have announced the dismantling of a criminal network that trafficked women and forced them into prostitution.
According to police, about a thousand women had been trafficked through the network over the past year. 48 women were freed during the operation.
Forty-eight people were arrested on suspicion of human trafficking, three of whom - two Colombians and one Spanish - are believed to be gang leaders.
The criminals recruited the victims from Latin America, "mainly Colombia and Venezuela." They were offered jobs in Spain as cleaners or in beauty salons, but when they were brought to Spain, they were forced into prostitution and kept under constant surveillance.
It is worth noting that in May 2024, Italian police arrested 109 suspects during a raid against the Calabrian mafia organization "Ndrangheta". "Ndrangheta" is one of the most powerful modern mafia groups in Italy. It is involved in arms, human and drug trafficking and has a multi-billion dollar turnover. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
