Zelenskyy spoke with Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on February 24 that he had a very good conversation with US President Donald Trump at the G7 online summit.

“We had a very good conversation within the framework of the G7 meeting under the leadership of Canada… We very much hope that the United States will continue to support us, as will other partners. "Of course, we must not lose this solidarity between Europe and the United States," Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian president did not disclose the details of their conversation. Trump has not yet commented on his conversation with Zelensky.

Trump has been extremely harsh on Zelensky in recent days, calling him a "dictator" and accusing him of "illegality." This happened at a time when Ukraine refused to sign an agreement with the United States on mineral resources.

Zelensky's team had developed a proposal that would give the United States the right to mine minerals in Ukraine in exchange for security guarantees by the end of 2024. However, after Trump took office, he began to look at the agreement differently - in fact, he is demanding the right to mine minerals in exchange for aid already sent to Ukraine, without additional security guarantees.

Against the backdrop of the conflict between Trump and Zelensky, the United States has effectively stopped providing diplomatic assistance to Kiev. Thus, Washington refused to mention the phrase "Russian aggression" in the annual statement of the G7 and did not support the relevant draft UN resolution.
