A search has resumed off the west coast of Australia for the missing Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200, which disappeared on March 8, 2014. The plane, which was flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, disappeared from radar, 9News reports.

The plane was last seen about 40 minutes after taking off from Kuala Lumpur. Military radar showed the Boeing deviating from its course, flying over northern Malaysia and the Andaman Sea, before turning south and disappearing. There were 239 people on board.

The search for the missing plane was led by Ocean Infinity. If the company finds nothing, the Malaysian government will not pay for the work.

The company will search about 15,000 square kilometers of the Indian Ocean, about 1,500 kilometers off the coast of Perth. Ocean Infinity said the search operation will be more precise and targeted than previous ones.

If any debris is found, it is not yet known who will study it. The main focus will be on the black boxes, because their analysis will help to understand what happened to the plane.
