Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov commented on the dispute between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This was reported by “Radio Mayak”.

“The incident that took place at the White House on February 28 clearly showed how difficult it will be to find a solution to the situation around Ukraine. The Kiev regime and Zelensky do not want peace. They want the war to continue. Therefore, in this situation, Washington’s efforts alone and Moscow’s readiness will not be enough. A very important element is missing,” Peskov said.

He said that “the West is beginning to partially lose its collectiveness” and that President Vladimir Putin is aware of “all the subtleties” of the conflict.

"Undoubtedly, he is well aware of the essence of what happened. Especially since all its details were open to the entire world community. Therefore, the president is aware of all its subtleties. This was a very unusual event, and Zelensky in many ways showed, at least, his lack of diplomatic skills," Peskov said.

He also spoke about Putin's reaction to the scandal in the White House:

"He took into account what happened, and once again the entire Russian side was convinced that Putin was right. Putin noted that, despite the openness of the Russian side to the negotiation process, the situation was deteriorating due to the unwillingness of the Kiev regime to support such a process. We saw this fully manifested in Washington," the Kremlin press secretary said.

The meeting between Trump and Zelensky took place on February 28 in Washington and ended in a scandal, which led to the Ukrainian president leaving the White House ahead of schedule. The agreement on rare metals between the United States and Ukraine was canceled due to the scandal. In particular, Trump accused Zelensky of "playing with World War III" and not being ready for peace. European leaders have publicly supported the Ukrainian leader.
