
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he is ready to return to the negotiating table with Donald Trump and advance his plan to end the conflict in Ukraine. He made this known on March 4 via Twitter.
Zelensky: "Ready to work under Trump's leadership"
The Ukrainian leader stressed the need to speed up the start of peace talks as much as possible, expressing the following thoughts:
"Ukraine is ready to sit down at the negotiating table to achieve a lasting peace. No one wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I are ready to work under Trump's strong leadership to achieve a lasting peace."
Zelensky said that in order to reach an agreement to end the war, a number of issues need to be discussed:
🔹 Banning the use of missiles and long-range drones.
🔹 Taking measures to release prisoners.
🔹 Discussing security guarantees to ensure peace.
Zelensky admits that the talks did not go "as expected"
In his address, Zelensky thanked the US and Trump for their assistance to Ukraine and admitted that the meeting at the White House on February 28 "did not go as expected."
"Unfortunately, this is what happened. Now it's time to fix everything. We want future cooperation and dialogue to be constructive."
Zelensky's comments may be related to the dispute that arose between Trump and the Ukrainian president during talks in Washington.
Ukraine ready to sign security and economic agreement
The Ukrainian president also announced his readiness to discuss a security and mineral resources agreement with the Trump administration.
"Ukraine is ready to sign this agreement at any time and in any convenient format. We see this as a step towards strengthening security and reliable guarantees."
Zelensky expressed hope for the effective functioning of this agreement and emphasized that Ukrainian-US cooperation will be of strategic importance.
