A meeting of Ukrainian and US delegations has begun in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. This was announced by the head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Rustem Umerov.
“Today we are working on a number of complex technical issues - our delegation includes energy experts, as well as representatives of the Navy and Air Force,” Umerov said.
The minister added that the talks are devoted to discussing proposals on energy and infrastructure security.
US representatives will also meet with the Russian delegation on March 24. According to Trump's special representative for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, the US is organizing indirect talks between Russia and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia to better understand the conditions of each side.
This round of talks will focus on a 30-day moratorium on energy facilities and a halt to military operations at sea.
US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff said he expected "real progress" during the talks with Russia. He reiterated a position that Donald Trump has been emphasizing, saying that Russian President Vladimir Putin "wants peace."
