Supersonic business jet ready for takeoff

Canadian company Bombardier is set to launch its new Global 8000 jet this year, reports iflscience.com. It is being hailed as the fastest civil aircraft since the legendary Concorde.

The plane has a maximum cruise speed of 0.94 Mach (1152 km/h), approaching the speed of sound.

The Global 8000 is a successor to the Global 7500, capable of flying 14,800 km nonstop with up to 19 passengers — linking cities like Dubai, Los Angeles, London, and Singapore.

In 2021 test flights, it even reached 1.015 Mach (1253 km/h), breaking the sound barrier — though such speeds won’t be used in commercial operations.

Technological highlights include the Smooth Flex wing and advanced cabin pressurization. At 12,497 m altitude, cabin pressure equals just 884 m — reducing fatigue during long flights.
