Putin declares 30-hour ceasefire for Easter
Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared a 30-hour ceasefire in the war with Ukraine for Easter. He announced this during a meeting with the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov.

“From a humanitarian point of view, from 18:00 today until 00:00 on the night of Sunday to Monday, the Russian side will declare an Easter break. During this time, I order a cessation of all military operations,” Putin said.

The Russian president expressed hope that the Ukrainian side would “take an example from Russia.” At the same time, he stressed that Russian troops must be prepared for possible provocations and violations of the ceasefire.

Putin also expressed support for the US's efforts to resolve the conflict peacefully.

The Ukrainian side has not yet responded to this initiative.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that he expected a response from his Russian counterpart to his proposal for a ceasefire in Ukraine "by the end of this week."

It should be recalled that earlier, under US mediation, an agreement was reached between Russia and Ukraine not to attack energy facilities, which lasted from March 18 to April 18. During this period, both sides accused each other of violating the agreement.
