Zelensky rejected Putin's ceasefire proposal, calling it a "spectacle"
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has rejected Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposal for a temporary ceasefire from May 8 to May 11. The Ukrainian president said that Kiev is ready for a full 30-day ceasefire starting from May 7, not for this period. The BBC reported this.

"This is nothing more than a spectacle on a grand stage," Zelensky said, commenting on the proposal made by Russia.

According to the Ukrainian leader, the Kiev authorities do not intend to help Putin create the impression that he has emerged from international isolation at the parade in Moscow on May 9.

"No one will extend a helping hand to Putin on May 9 to give the impression that he has emerged from isolation and normalized relations with the world," Zelensky added.

In addition, Zelensky said that Ukraine cannot guarantee the security of foreign leaders who will come to Moscow to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory. In his opinion, the issue of the security of these visits should be resolved by the Russian side itself.

Earlier, on April 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed a temporary ceasefire for the period from the evening of May 8 to the evening of May 11. In response, Ukrainian officials put forward a proposal for an immediate ceasefire, without any deadlines.
