Zelensky: “Our 30-day ceasefire offer remains valid”—Russia responds with further attacks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a video address to the nation on Tuesday evening, May 7, once again emphasized that the proposal for at least a 30-day ceasefire with Russia remains valid. According to him, this proposal was put forward with the aim of opening a diplomatic path and raising hopes for peace.

“We are not withdrawing this offer. Diplomacy must be given a chance. If Russia refuses this, then the world must understand this as well and draw its own conclusions,” Zelensky said in his address.

However, the President noted that currently, no diplomatic efforts are being observed from the Russian side; rather, only new attacks and strikes are being delivered in response.

“Russia must stop its aggression. They will be forced to do this sooner or later. It is only a matter of time. War is a loss for all sides—even for those who started it,” the Ukrainian leader stated.

Zelensky particularly recalled Russia's latest attacks on Ukrainian territory on May 7. He explained that Ukraine's drone attacks carried out on objects in Moscow and other Russian territories on this day led to an “unstable” situation in Russian skies.

Russia’s leading airports—Pulkovo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, Kazan, and Sochi—experienced significant delays of dozens of flights. Commenting on this, Zelensky said, “Today, instability in Russia’s skies is a fair reality.”

Against this backdrop, the Ukrainian government continues to urge the global community toward peace. Zelensky stressed that Russia has currently rejected the 30-day ceasefire proposal, but the international community should evaluate this and formulate its position.

Currently, Kyiv signals openness toward diplomatic solutions, but the situation on the front may further escalate. European and U.S. officials may determine the fate of the war in the coming months by either supporting or exerting pressure on this political move.
