As a result of the study, slowed-down seismic waves were detected at a depth of 5.4 to 8 kilometers on the planet. According to experts, such anomalies usually appear only due to the presence of liquid water.

According to scientists' calculations, if this water were evenly distributed over the surface of the planet, its height could reach 520-780 meters. This is one of the biggest discoveries in the history of Mars.

Experts noted that this study may raise very important questions related to the existence of life on Mars and the possibility of humans living on this planet in the future.

Researchers also noted that Mars was previously covered with water, and this state ended about 3 billion years ago. Evidence of the presence of water on the surface of Mars was previously detected by the Perseverance apparatus. According to its data, minerals that originated from water were found under the layers of Martian soil.

Researchers believe that this discovery opens up new possibilities for the history and future prospects of the planet.
