A surprising development has occurred in the art world. A unique, invisible sculpture called Io Sono (“I Am”) by the famous contemporary Italian artist Salvatore Garau has been sold for $18,000. This was reported by the British Independent.
This intangible work was put up for sale at the Art Rite auction and found its owner for a high price. The buyer not only acquired this unusual piece of art, but also managed to obtain a special certificate confirming the authenticity of the sculpture.
The auction organizers recommended that the owner of the sculpture place this intangible work of art in an open area, two meters long and wide, free from obstacles.
Interestingly, the sculpture is physically invisible. However, its author, Salvatore Garau, explained the essence of this work based on the laws of philosophy and physics:
“Although this work is invisible, there is no doubt that it exists. Vacuum is not actually empty either. According to the Heisenberg uncertainty principle in physics, the space we consider empty is always filled with energy. This energy can turn into particles and even living beings at any time,” Garau said.
It should be noted that this is not the first intangible work of art created by the Italian artist. Previously, he created an invisible image of a meditating Buddha on the streets of Milan, marking the place of this work of art with only a few rectangular strips. This case also caused a lot of discussion.
“My sculpture cannot be seen with the eye, but it is possible and necessary to believe in its existence. Because it is created from air and spirit. Art is not a body, but a feeling and an imagination,” the artist emphasized.
These unusual works of art by Salvatore Garau are causing various debates in the art world. Some art critics accept it as a unique idea and a new creative approach, while others evaluate such works as strange and unexpected.
However, one thing is certain: Garau's invisible sculptures further expand the boundaries of contemporary art today, presenting viewers with unique new sensations.
