In Tajikistan, charitable citizens gave up Hajj to invest in Danghara
80 residents of the Danghara district in Tajikistan had intended to go on a pilgrimage to Mecca — Hajj. However, 40 of them voluntarily gave up the trip and decided to allocate the saved money to improve and invest in their home district. This was announced by Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon during a seminar attended by regional, city, and district leaders.

According to the president, residents and entrepreneurs of Danghara invested a total of 2.3 billion somoni (approximately 223 million USD) into infrastructure development and various social projects.

Out of this amount, 628 million somoni were allocated for the construction of educational institutions and other social facilities. Specifically, in the villages of Pushing and Korez, local residents and businessmen built 5 schools with 4800 student capacity, a kindergarten, healthcare facilities, and 7 production enterprises.

The president emphasized that these funds were entirely collected by local residents and philanthropists. He instructed other regional leaders to carefully study and follow the experience of Danghara.

— I sincerely thank all entrepreneurs, charitable individuals, and citizens of the country for supporting government initiatives, — said Rahmon.

Zamin.uz editorial note:
The initiative shown by the people of Danghara is a powerful example of putting public interest above personal intentions. Choosing to give up Hajj in order to build schools and kindergartens for future generations reflects deep patriotism and social responsibility. What do you think about this decision?
