Trump and Putin to Hold Telephone Negotiations

U.S. President Donald Trump announced via social media that he will hold a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to his statement, the discussion will occur on May 19 at 10:00, although the time zone was not specified.

Trump noted that the conversation will address the ongoing armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine and discuss ways to end hostilities.

"We will discuss stopping this bloody tragedy, in which more than 5,000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers are killed each week, as well as trade issues," Trump wrote.

Trump: "Putin is tired"

Additionally, Trump mentioned seeing signs that Putin is tired of the war. He previously spoke about this in an interview with Fox News on March 16, stating it is possible to reach agreements with Putin, who is not opposed to peace.

Conversations with Zelensky and NATO planned as well

Trump also announced plans to speak with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and NATO members following his discussion with Putin. This likely forms part of a broader diplomatic initiative aimed at achieving peace.
