U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that President Donald Trump intends to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin soon. This meeting is expected to intensify diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the military conflict in Ukraine.

According to Marco Rubio, discussions regarding the location and timing of the summit are currently underway. If the meeting takes place, it could mark a significant diplomatic step toward ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Washington does not intend to prolong negotiations indefinitely

The Secretary of State emphasized that the U.S. prioritizes achieving effective political solutions promptly over endless and fruitless negotiations.

"We support dialogue that leads to concrete outcomes. If negotiations end without results, the U.S. Congress may adopt new sanctions legislation against Russia," Rubio said.

The threat of new sanctions remains on the agenda

Additionally, it was reported that Russia is currently working on a document outlining its conditions for a ceasefire. At the same time, it was emphasized separately that the issue of potential U.S. sanctions against Russia lies with Congress rather than the administration.
