During the first meeting of the Termez Dialogue between Central and South Asian states under the theme "Creating a Common Space for Peace, Friendship, and Prosperity" held in Termez, Roza Otunbayeva, the head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, made a significant proposal. She emphasized that integrating Afghanistan into the collective security system of Central Asian states is essential for ensuring regional stability and development.
“No investments will come unless security problems are resolved”
Otunbayeva stated that no investment projects or favorable conditions can be realized in the region until security issues are resolved. She stressed that integrating Afghanistan into a unified security system with Central Asian states would strengthen not only internal stability but also regional trust.
“Neighboring security forces have yet to meet”
During the meeting, Roza Otunbayeva highlighted another issue—the lack of active cooperation between the security forces of Afghanistan and neighboring countries. "We always talk about anti-terror groups, but they have never even met each other," she noted. In her view, regular meetings and information exchange between security agencies are crucial for ensuring peace and stability in the region.
Zamin.uz editorial:
The proposal to integrate Afghanistan into the regional security system is relevant not only from a practical but also a strategic perspective. This approach could increase the overall security potential of the region, strengthen an environment of trust, and create stable conditions for investors. What is your opinion on this matter? How will integrating Afghanistan impact the region’s future?
