American billionaire and famous entrepreneur Elon Musk’s dreams of conquering orbit have once again ended in failure. The Starship rocket, owned by SpaceX, lost control due to a serious malfunction during its latest, ninth test flight on May 27 and concluded unsuccessfully. This was announced by the company on its official social media page.
According to the information, the Starship spacecraft was initially launched into space as planned and successfully reached Earth’s orbit. However, after a certain amount of time had passed, the altitude control system of the spacecraft unexpectedly failed. After orbiting the Earth once, Starship completely lost control and began re-entering the atmosphere above the Indian Ocean.
In the official statement released by SpaceX, it was said that only 10 minutes after the flight began, all contact with the Starship spacecraft was lost. As a result, it was unable to carry out the planned soft landing near the northwestern shores of Australia. The company’s specialists are currently studying the causes of this malfunction and have promised to announce the details soon.
Additionally, another technical failure occurred during the flight. Specifically, Starship was assigned to deploy eight Starlink satellite simulators into Earth’s orbit. However, due to technical reasons, the special hatch on the spacecraft did not open, and the simulators remained onboard.
It should be noted that this was the ninth test flight of Starship in the history of SpaceX. For this rocket, which had previously been launched eight times, such failures have already become a common occurrence. Out of the previous eight launches, four ended successfully, two resulted in explosions, and the remaining two experienced other malfunctions.
SpaceX founder Elon Musk has spent billions of dollars on the Starship project. This project is a key part of the businessman’s major plan to colonize the planet Mars. In addition, SpaceX is also closely collaborating with NASA, the U.S. space agency. Both organizations are preparing to send humans to the Moon for the first time in more than 50 years, and it is Starship that has been selected as the main spacecraft for this major mission.
However, the frequent malfunctions and large dimensions of the Starship rocket are causing concern among residents of the southern U.S. states and Caribbean regions. During the most recent flight, there was also a risk of rocket parts falling to the ground.
Various experts in the field emphasize that malfunctions like these are to be expected when testing large and complex constructions like Starship. According to them, any new technology must be tested many times in order to reach perfection.
Elon Musk, despite all the problems, is not backing down from his plans to conquer space. According to him, every failure is the next step toward future success.
SpaceX, in turn, plans to analyze the data obtained from this flight in order to further improve Starship. This may lay the groundwork for even more successful flights in the future.
At present, the entire world is closely following such news in the field of space research. Musk’s space projects are of great significance not only for technology but also for the future of humanity.
Therefore, despite today’s failures, it is possible to hope for a bright future for Starship and SpaceX. However, for now, such serious technical issues remain one of the biggest tests on the company’s path toward its grand ambitions.
The cause of this latest malfunction is expected to be revealed soon. Will Musk’s dream of colonizing Mars come true, or will such failures force him to reconsider his plans — time will tell. But one thing is clear — SpaceX and its founder will not give up easily. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
