At the press conference held in the White House, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz presented an unexpected gift to U.S. President Donald Trump. He brought a copy of the birth certificate of Trump’s grandfather — Friedrich Trump. The document was in German and English, and it stated that Friedrich Trump was born in 1869 in the village of Kallstadt, Germany.

According to the information, Trump’s grandfather emigrated to America at the age of 16, changed his name to Frederick Trump there, and opened a hotel in the Klondike area, where gold seekers lived, eventually becoming wealthy.

Donald Trump himself rarely speaks on this topic. He more often mentions his mother’s Scottish heritage, but hardly ever refers to the German roots on his father’s side.

Scholz not only handed over the document but also invited the U.S. President to visit his grandfather’s homeland — Kallstadt. Interestingly, former Chancellor Angela Merkel had previously made a similar proposal to Trump, but at that time, the visit never took place.
