Amid the escalating situation in the Middle East, the Iranian government has begun serious efforts to establish peace. According to The Wall Street Journal, citing Middle Eastern and European officials, Iran has asked Israel and the US through intermediaries to immediately halt military actions.
According to the report, if the US guarantees not to be directly involved in Israeli attacks, Iran has stated it is ready to resume negotiations with Washington. Tehran has also reached out to Israel, emphasizing that stopping the violence would benefit both countries.
Arab diplomats who spoke with the Iranians say that Tehran understands well that Israel cannot continue a “war of attrition” for long. The Jewish state may ultimately be forced to seek a diplomatic solution. Iranian officials stated that Israel has no clear strategy to exit this conflict. Experts point out that the US’s help is necessary to inflict significant damage to nuclear facilities.
According to WSJ, if there are no talks with the US, Iran has threatened to speed up its nuclear program and expand the scale of the war. However, Arab mediators note that Tehran has not shown any clear signs of willingness to make serious concessions in nuclear negotiations.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) estimates that the strikes on Iranian nuclear sites have not yet resulted in major losses. Thus, analysts say Israel currently has every reason to continue military operations.
It is known that mutual attacks between Israel and Iran began on the night of June 13. The Jewish state is conducting the “Rebel Lion” military operation, during which Israeli forces have repeatedly struck nuclear and military sites in Iran.
In response, the Iranian side launched an operation called “True Promise 3” and fired hundreds of rockets at Israel. The Supreme Leader of Iran, in his address, called Israel’s attacks a crime and warned that the Jewish state faces a “bitter and terrible fate.”
Currently, neither side has stopped attacking each other. Whether the conflict expands further or a diplomatic solution is found will depend on the activity of the international community and the influence of major powers. All hopes are tied to peace and negotiations. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
