Iran agrees to ceasefire – Media

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that a ceasefire between Israel and Iran had come into effect and called on both sides not to violate it. The statement raised hopes of an end to the 12-day war, although reports of deadly attacks continued in both countries.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel accepted Trump’s ceasefire proposal and had achieved its objective of eliminating Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile threat. He warned, however, that any violation would trigger a strong response, according to a statement from his office.

Earlier, Trump posted on his Truth Social platform: "THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT!"

This announcement came after another wave of Iranian missile strikes, in which four people were killed, according to Israel’s emergency services. Iran also reported that nine people were killed in an attack in the country’s north on Tuesday morning.

On Monday, Trump declared a full ceasefire to end the war and stated that Israel and Iran would be given time to complete ongoing operations, after which the ceasefire would take effect in stages.

His statement came amid an escalation that began Sunday when the U.S. bombed Iranian nuclear facilities, prompting Iran to retaliate with missiles targeting a U.S. base in Qatar on Monday.

Early Tuesday, witnesses reported hearing explosions near Tel Aviv and the southern city of Beersheba. Iran's SNN news agency said Tehran launched its final round of missiles before the ceasefire took effect.

The Israeli military said Iran launched six waves of missiles, and Israel’s national ambulance service confirmed that four people were killed in Beersheba.

In Iran, the deputy governor of the northern Gilan province said a “terrorist attack” early Tuesday completely destroyed four residential buildings, killing nine people and injuring 33, according to the Tasnim news agency.

The official did not explicitly blame Israel, but Iran’s Nournews agency reported that nuclear scientist Mohammadreza Sediqi was killed in the attack, attributing it to Israel and stating it occurred before the ceasefire took effect.

A senior White House official said Trump brokered the ceasefire in a phone call with Netanyahu, and Israel agreed, provided Iran launched no further attacks.

“If all goes as it should – and it will – I want to congratulate both countries, Israel and Iran, for showing the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end what should be called ‘THE 12 DAY WAR,’” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

An Iranian official also confirmed Tehran’s agreement to the ceasefire, though Iran’s foreign minister said hostilities would not cease unless Israel halted its attacks. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
