Military pressure and diplomatic stalemate: a new stage in the Ukraine conflict
Russia continues large-scale air attacks against Ukraine. At the end of last week, reports indicated that 537 missile and drone strikes were carried out across the country, including in the directions of Kyiv and Lviv.

During these attacks, Ukrainian Air Force F-16 pilot Lieutenant Colonel Maksym Ustymenko was killed. President Volodymyr Zelensky posthumously awarded him the title of “Hero of Ukraine.”

On the military front, Russia's advance in Sumy region has slowed, but attention has shifted to the eastern Dnipropetrovsk region. According to unconfirmed reports in Russian media, Moscow's forces may have taken control of the first village in this area.

Meanwhile, two rounds of peace negotiations since May, mediated by U.S. President Donald Trump, have so far yielded no clear results. Putin expressed doubt about any positive outcome from the talks, stating that Russia’s and Ukraine’s proposals are “completely opposed.”

Zelensky again voiced distrust in Putin’s intentions: “Putin has already dragged out diplomacy for half a year, and during the war, he pushed it aside completely. Russia is not seeking a way out of this war, but rather preparing for new military attacks, including against European countries,” said the Ukrainian leader.

The U.S. special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, made a similar statement, accusing Russia of stalling for time and targeting civilian infrastructure. In response, Moscow stated it was not delaying anything and expressed “gratitude” to the U.S. for its support.
