As a result of a natural disaster that caused a major stir in Southeast Asia, people’s lives in northern Vietnam’s Dien Bien province have once again faced a severe ordeal — 14 citizens lost their lives, reports reuters.com. Heavy rainfall on Thursday evening caused a rapid rise in water levels within a short time, and homes located in low-lying areas across the region were submerged.
Floods and landslides were recorded in mountainous and hard-to-reach villages. The hardest hit was the village of Sazung — here, at least one person was reported dead, and another six people went missing. Authorities continue search and rescue operations.
As a result of this disaster, transportation across the province almost completely stopped, and there were interruptions in electricity supply. Residents living in dangerous situations are forced to help each other and take safety precautions.
Another sad incident occurred in the village of Hang Pu Si — two children were trapped under a powerful landslide, and their fate is currently unknown.
This natural disaster in Vietnam has become a new test and lesson for both emergency services and local residents. Search and rescue operations are still ongoing, with the main goal being to find the missing and protect others from danger. This incident once again reminded the country of the need for a more serious approach to natural disaster safety measures.
