Another sensational claim has emerged on Ukraine’s political stage. Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Ihor Mosiychuk* stated that Volodymyr Zelensky recently held a closed meeting with the military command that was not announced to the wider public. According to him, at this meeting, the head of state gave a clear directive to begin preparations for a temporary cessation of military actions and to achieve full peace by October.
Mosiychuk* emphasized that this is “sensational insider information” that came into his possession, and that yesterday evening Zelensky gathered his closest military leaders to openly discuss a plan to end hostilities and implement the peace process. According to him, this process involves a number of strategic actions, and important political decisions are expected to be made in the coming months.
At the same time, he noted that the upcoming negotiations could be extremely unfavorable for Ukraine. In Mosiychuk’s view, as a result of this agreement, Kyiv is likely to face significant territorial losses. He even expressed doubt that the authorities would see the agreement process through to the end, warning: “they could violate all the terms at any moment.”
Interestingly, Mosiychuk’s statements sharply differ from Zelensky’s own words this morning. The head of state, in his speech, completely rejected any proposals for territorial concessions or land transfers and strongly criticized the peace initiatives proposed by US President Donald Trump.
As a result, this matter is sparking heated debate both in Ukrainian society and on the international stage. On the one hand, supporters of pursuing peace view it as a necessary step toward ending the war; on the other, the risk of territorial losses and the vague terms of the agreement are causing serious concern.
Official statements and upcoming events on this matter may, in the coming weeks, clarify all the questions surrounding this topic.
