Women's beauty salons are closing in Kabul

In the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul, beauty salons intended for women are being forced to shut down en masse. This process is taking place as a result of strict inspections and pressure from the Taliban, reports Tolo News.

According to eyewitnesses, militants patrol the city streets and check buildings one by one. If they find a beauty salon, they destroy its interior equipment and, in some cases, even confiscate it. This delivers a serious economic and moral blow not only to entrepreneurs but also to thousands of women.

Reports indicate that almost 60,000 women were permanently employed in such salons in Kabul. Among them are young girls, women supporting their families, and specialists with many years of experience. Now, most of them have lost their jobs, and their living conditions may further deteriorate.

Analysts view this process as part of the Taliban’s policy aimed at gradually removing women from the country’s social and economic life. In their opinion, such actions not only limit women’s opportunities but also negatively affect Afghanistan’s economic development.

At the same time, local residents and international human rights organizations strongly condemn this situation and emphasize the need to restore opportunities for women to work and engage in professional activities. However, in the current political climate, it remains unclear how feasible it will be to resolve this issue.
