Railway cables cut in Bavaria, sabotage possible

In Bavaria, Germany, another attack on railway infrastructure has been reported. On August 12, at around 5:00 a.m., near the city of Coburg on the Rodental line, unknown individuals cut several cables used for switch and signal control.

The damaged cables were quickly repaired, but police are treating the incident as possible sabotage. The damage is estimated at around 20,000 euros.

This marks the fourth such incident on Germany’s rail network since July. Previous cases in Düsseldorf and Saxony-Anhalt involved arson attacks on infrastructure. Responsibility for those incidents was claimed by a left-wing radical group calling itself “Kommandо Angry Birds.”
