U.S. President Donald Trump said it is unclear whether Russian leader Vladimir Putin wants to end the war in Ukraine. According to him, if Putin refuses an agreement, it will create a “tough situation” for Russia.
At the White House, Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy held talks on peace negotiations. Zelenskiy described this meeting as “an important step toward peace.” The summit was also attended by the leaders of Germany, France, and Britain.
Meanwhile, Russia continues its attacks. According to the Ukrainian military, Russia launched 270 drones and 10 missiles overnight. A large fire broke out at an oil refinery in the Poltava region.
Ukrainian officials said Russia returned the bodies of 1,000 fallen Ukrainian soldiers. In return, Ukraine handed over the bodies of 19 Russian soldiers.
Experts note that Trump’s position on security guarantees remains unclear. Russia, for its part, strongly opposes NATO troops being stationed in Ukraine. According to analysts, both sides are currently trying not to present Trump as an obstacle to peace.
