In Donetsk Region, 150 Miners Trapped Underground as a Result of Russian Attack

On August 26, 2025, the Russian army launched heavy attacks on the city of Dobropolie and nearby settlements in the Donetsk region. As a result of artillery and airstrikes, 148 miners trapped in the mine could not escape due to the disruption of electricity supply.

According to RBC-Ukraine news agency, the attacks caused problems with the electricity supply to the mines, and as a result, workers in the coal mine remained trapped underground.

According to information from local residents and Telegram channels, the cities of Dobropolie, Belozerskoye, Annovka, Iverskoye, and Svyatogorovka were hit by the attacks. Moreover, it is reported that at least four aviation bombs were dropped on Dobropolie.

Currently, rescuers are actively working to save the miners and are trying to prevent them from remaining trapped underground. The work continues in an effort to compete with time and reduce the number of casualties.
