Due to the fact that COVID-19 infection rates in Ukraine have more than doubled over the past week, mask-wearing has been reinstated in medical institutions across the country. This decision was made not only to control the spread of the disease but also to strengthen public health, and it is of significant importance for community well-being.
According to local media reports, wearing masks has become mandatory for all visitors and medical staff at the Central City Clinical Hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk. Similar measures had previously been implemented in hospitals in Rivne and Odessa regions. These measures are aimed at reducing virus transmission and maintaining a safe environment in hospitals.
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention as of August 25, 2025, COVID-19 cases nationwide have more than doubled within a week. In Kyiv alone, 1121 new cases were recorded. These figures indicate the virus's renewed activity among the population and highlight the need to strengthen precautionary measures in the healthcare system.
Experts note that the current situation is explained by seasonal activity and the public's insufficient adherence to preventive measures. Therefore, reinforcing protective measures in medical facilities, including mask mandates, remains extremely important.
The Ministry of Health strongly recommends the public:
wear masks in public places and enclosed spaces,
maintain social distance at crowded events,
strictly follow handwashing and personal hygiene rules,
immediately consult a doctor if COVID-19 symptoms are observed.
