In the territory of Australia, another major operation in the direction of combating crime was carried out. Border troops and law enforcement agencies managed to seize one of the largest drug shipments in the country’s history.
According to official information, the total value of the seized narcotic substances amounted to 64 million Australian dollars. This is approximately equal to 41.8 million US dollars, and the total weight, as reported, is close to 900 kilograms. This indicator was recorded as an absolute record for Australia.
In the police statement, it was noted that a large-scale investigation is currently underway regarding a criminal conspiracy related to an attempt to bring amphetamine-type narcotics into the country through the state of New South Wales. In the statement, this case was described as “one of the largest drug crimes in Australia’s history.”
According to law enforcement information, the narcotics were hidden using a special method. They were disguised as spring bolts and packed into containers, attempting to remain unnoticed by their outward appearance.
Investigators assume that an international organized criminal group may be behind this crime. Therefore, at present, the Australian police, together with international partner agencies, are conducting additional investigations regarding this case.
This incident once again demonstrated how serious and urgent the direction of combating narcotics is in the country. The seizure of a large batch of dangerous substances is assessed as an important step in protecting the population from various negative consequences.
