German Chancellor: Putin and Zelenskyy meeting will not take place

A meeting between the leaders of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin, and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, cannot take place. German Chancellor Friedrich Mers announced this in a statement.
"Of course, there will be no meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin, as there was a dialogue between President Donald Trump and President Putin last week," Mers said during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.
The Chancellor did not comment further on this issue. However, his words caused great discussion in the international arena.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed Putin's readiness to meet with Zelenskyy at the highest level. But he set an important condition for such a dialogue: all issues that are expected to be raised must be discussed and resolved in advance.
Mers's decisive statement rang out against the backdrop of the airstrikes observed in Kyiv last night and on the morning of August 28. According to reports, an air raid alert has been issued several times in the Ukrainian capital. As a result of the explosions in the city, traffic was partially suspended, and black smoke from the fires covered the sky.
According to the latest data, at least 19 people have died as a result of the attacks.
Experts believe this situation further complicates the political dialogue between Russia and Ukraine. Fans are watching with interest how future diplomatic steps will unfold.
