Houthi leaders killed in attack in Sanaa

On August 28, a devastating attack occurred in the Yemeni capital Sana’a, further escalating the situation in the region. As a result of an airstrike carried out by Israeli military forces, the Houthis’ Prime Minister Ahmad Ghaleb al-Rahawi and several high-ranking officials were killed.

According to reports, the strike was launched while a government meeting was taking place. At that time, the Houthi leadership in Sana’a was discussing issues of national policy and defense. The SABA agency reported that the Israeli army simultaneously struck several locations where senior officials had gathered.

According to information released by Reuters, among the dead were the Houthis’ Minister of Defense and the Chief of General Staff. This event became a major loss for the movement’s political and military structure.

It should be noted that on August 25, Israel also struck the city of Sana’a, killing at least 10 people and injuring nearly 100 others.

The Houthis, in turn, regularly launch rockets and drones toward Israel. They present these actions as support for the Palestinian people. In addition, they have carried out attacks on international trade vessels operating in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
