In Germany, the situation related to narcotic substances is becoming increasingly alarming. According to Hendrik Streeck, the government’s commissioner for combating drug addiction, synthetic substances are spreading more widely on the local market, especially opioids that are hundreds of times stronger than heroin.
As Streeck told bild.de, one of these synthetic substances — nitazenes — is extremely dangerous to human life. According to him, “a dose the size of a pencil tip can already take a person’s life.” This clearly shows how deadly the consequences of drug use can be.
According to official statistics, in 2023 the number of drug-related deaths in Germany reached one of the highest levels in recent years. Reports indicate that an average of 6 people die every day in the country due to narcotic substances. Of particular concern is that among those under the age of 30, the mortality rate increased by 14 percent.
Experts note that substances known as “crack” can cause strong addiction even after a single use. In addition, there has been an increase in the sale of drugs via the Internet and their direct delivery to home addresses, which further complicates the situation.
According to Hendrik Streeck, today Germany is witnessing a sharp rise not only in the consumption of synthetic opioids but also of crack and cocaine. “The market is changing very fast. If measures are not taken now, the situation may take an even more dangerous turn,” he warned.
Thus, specialists and officials emphasize the need to pay serious attention to this dangerous trend in the country, otherwise the fatal consequences associated with narcotic substances will only continue to grow.
