Romantic relationship led to Nestlé CEO’s resignation

Nestlé CEO Laurent Freyshe stepped down after it became known about his personal relationship with a subordinate employee. This was announced on the company’s official website.

According to Nestlé’s Code of Conduct, such relationships between a manager and a subordinate are strictly prohibited. “This was a necessary decision. Nestlé’s values and management principles form the foundation of our company,” said Chairman of the Board Paul Bulcke.

Philipp Navratil was appointed to the position. He had previously been responsible for the development of brands such as Nescafe and Nespresso. On January 1, 2025, he joined Nestlé’s Executive Board.

In July, another scandal broke out at a Coldplay concert due to the “kiss-camera.” It turned out that the couple shown as married were the company’s HR head Kristin Cabot and IT specialist Andy Byron. The video spread widely, caused a huge stir, and generated many memes online.

Soon after, Byron’s resignation was announced. In the company’s statement it was noted: “Our leaders are expected to set an example, to adhere to standards of behavior and responsibility. However, recently these standards have been violated.” After Byron, Kristin Cabot also left her position.

Unexpectedly, 54-year-old actress Gwyneth Paltrow was appointed as Astronom’s interim representative. She announced this in a humorous video and answered “the most popular questions” about the company’s activities, including: “Oh my God, what happened?!”, “How will your SMM team handle this situation?”.
