US President Donald Trump expressed his reaction to the incident that occurred on the night of September 10. According to him, the violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones is a serious matter.
“Russian drones violated Polish airspace? We are here!”, — wrote the head of the White House on his page on the social network.
The position of Polish officials and NATO
On September 10, the operational command of the Polish Armed Forces announced the destruction of several drones that entered the country's territory. Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that these drones belonged to Russia. According to him, the military was forced to shoot down unmanned aerial vehicles that “posed a direct threat”.
After that, NATO activated Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty. According to it, member states are obliged to consult together when their territorial integrity, political independence or security is threatened.
The Russian side has commented
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the incident. According to him, the Kremlin has not yet received any official requests from Polish officials regarding the situation with the drones.
