86-million-year-old dinosaur eggs discovered in China

In China, another major discovery that amazed the scientific world has taken place. In the Qinlongshan fossil reserve, located in the central part of the country, scientists discovered unique findings in the form of fossilized eggshells. According to CNN, the find consists of 28 eggs, whose age was calculated at approximately 86 million years.

According to experts, most of the discovered eggs belong to the Dendroolithidae family and to the species “Placoolithus tumiaolingensis.” Their shape is that of a slightly flattened sphere, their length ranges from 120 to 170 millimeters, and the shell thickness does not exceed 2.4 millimeters. This highlights their unique geological features.

Scientists used a method called the “atomic clock” to determine the age. That is, the lead and uranium isotopes in the eggshell were measured, and their exact age was calculated.

Researchers now hope that this technique will not only help determine age but also reveal how dinosaurs adapted to cold climates. Such data could shed new light on the life of ancient species.

“We must study the findings with great care. This is a very complex process that requires modern laboratories and high-precision equipment. The most important thing is not to contaminate the samples with other materials,” said study leader Bi Zhao.

According to specialists, this discovery is an important milestone in global paleontology and may, in the future, reveal new information about the life of dinosaurs and their adaptation to the environment.
